( To Pachita )
When she was born her parents looked at each other and said...we will try again for a boy. When she was three she got sick with polio the doctor said...and she was such a promising girl... When she wanted to act in a school play the teacher said...you cannot honey..you limp.
When she fell in love and gave her heart she was used and dumped.. he said ...who would really love you?
And one day she learned to play the guitar and sing...her voice soared free and strong
she wrote songs and people applauded
She was happy and safe.. then she was told to stop singing about human rights and equality
She did not.
The years passed and her hair was kissed by the snow of time.
She discovered poetry and wrote about love about nature and about family
No matter what life gave her, she smiled ...she was after all, a promising girl.
