My South America

( To my parents)

When I think of my South America, two images come to my mind,

a grape bunch, with the same shape of my loved continent, and that of a soft melody, a mix of guitars, drums, and flutes.

The melody changes its rhythm as I move north, taking a tropical mood with bongos and flutes, with shades of orange and gold under the green banana leaves.

Cinnamon skin, gentle smiles, brilliant eyes, aroma of sugar cane and coffee grains . . .

crossing the big Amazon river, I then see stone pyramids sleeping under the green grass, keeping their secrets in their sacred silence.

Land of jewels, music, good people, wonderful cactus flowers sprinkled with morning dew and volcanoes spewing diamonds, gifts of Mother Earth, like the marvelous sunsets and the starry nights.
